Unfortunately, too many of us turn to food to fill some or all of these voids. A person may come home from a stressful day and binge on processed food. The same person could come home to someone asking them about their day and showing that they are cared for, may not feel the need to binge at all. Another reason for binging is lack of nutrients. You may be overeating, but if you are not eating enough nutrients, your body will tell you to keep eating. So changing the quality of what you are eating may be the thing your body is asking you to do. A simple sugar craving is your body asking for energy. If you go for the accessible sweet treat, it could send you on a roller coaster. Choosing a natural food that is high in fiber but still contains sugar, will make for slow digestion, limiting the amount of sugar that flows into the cells and makes the energy last a lot longer.
Our bodies crave to stay in balance, to comfort our soul, for energy and strength, and dehydration. Next time your body has a craving, think about what it might be telling you that your body needs. It might be different than what you thought.
