Lettuce Turnip the Beet!

Summer around Lake Minnetonka is a magical time.  I remember growing up on a lake and running around all day long in my swimsuit and riding my bike for miles.  The days were so carefree and full of joy.  Spontaneous get togethers and lounging on  inner tubes in the middle of the lake for hours.  I treasure these moments and want to make sure to give my boys summers that they will never forget.

Unfortunately, I have seen many grown ups who stop “playing” and sit on the sidelines.  A lot of them are run down or not willing to get into their swimsuit and join the fun.  When I think of someone who is healthy, I think full of energy, glowing, and contagiously happy.

A big difference to me between those who are healthy and those who are not is their body image.  Those that feel good in their body are out living the life they want to live.  And those who are not, are on the sidelines watching the others live.  If this sounds familiar, I challenge you to break the habit of watching from the sidelines.  Jump in and create the memories your family will remember.

For one day, play like when you were a kid.  Run through the sprinkler, ride your bikes with no destination, dance to the music, no food rules, no exercise rules… just PLAY!!!  And then REPEAT!  Let your body tell you when to eat, when to rest, and when to have more fun.  Quit analyzing too much with your adult brain and be present in the moment.

If done consistently for a few days in a row, your body might not have time to do some major changing, but your spirit will be smiling and asking you to do more.   Soon your body will catch up.  The best part is that your relationships will start to grow.  Your kids will have memories to last a lifetime and your partner will want to spend more quality time with you.

Summer is such a magical time and a perfect time to break the habits that keep you from reaching your health goals.

So get out there and Lettuce Turnip the Beet!
